C) Simple Guide to measuring your Infants Length/Height |
Paediatricians use several devices for measuring an infant's length (what is later referred to as height). However, it is possible to use a simple tape measure to check your baby's length at home. 1. To obtain a correct measurement, it will be necessary to lay your baby on his or her back. 2. Position the baby's head against a wall. 3. Holding the baby's knees together and pressing them gently, place a tape measure from the wall down to the infant's heels. It may be necessary to have one person hold the infant while another measures. Record the baby's length in inches or centimetres. You can use this number in the growth calculator to calculate your child's height percentile. |
D) Simple Guide to measuring your Childs Height |
| Once a child begins to stand erect, measurements of length are more commonly referred to as height. |
1. Before measuring your child's height, remove any footwear. 2. Ask the child to stand up straight with back against a small length of wood, like a garden cane or even directly against a tape measure fixed to the wall. 3. Then looking straight ahead, place a ruler on top of the child's head and mark off the corresponding spot on the wood/tape measure. The centimetre height can be used to give an estimation of the best fitting garment. (we have provided these, only where they have been given directly by the designer). |
E) Simple Guide to measuring your Infant/Childs Foot Size |
1. The bigger bare foot (usually the right) is o be measured from heel to top of big toe. The best way to measure the foot is to place the bare foot against the wall, use a pencil to mark the top of the toe and the bottom of your heel. |
2. Alternatively place a piece of paper on the floor and make a mark at the end of the big toe and another at the back of the heel, then get a tape measure and measure the distance between the two. |
3. If you are in doubt of the right size to order, then our best suggestion is to order the next size up, this way your child may grow into the shoes soon, rather than grow out of them soon. |
